From rousing choruses to intimate solo arias, A Night at the Opera explores the full emotional range of the operatic stage in an evening of colour, drama and powerful choral writing.
The Southampton Philharmonic and Southampton University Philharmonic Choirs are joined by the London-based Docklands Sinfonia under the direction of Rory Macdonald.
The concert features dramatic and much-loved choruses ranging from Verdi’s La Traviata to Wagner’s Die Meistersinger, music that encompasses joy and celebration, reflection and deep emotion. Complementing the choral programme, outstanding soloists Anita Watson (soprano) and Jay Broadhurst (tenor) will perform a selection of celebrated arias including Puccini’s Nessun dorma!, Dvořák’s soulful Song to the Moon, and Lensky’s poignant aria from Eugene Onegin.
