Black Cat Bone

Describing their sound as ‘Howlin’ Wolf meets Black Rebel’, Black Cat Bone mixes heavy blues and rock ‘n roll to come up with a sound that is infused with soul. The quartet, often abbreviated as BCB, released their debut album, Growl, last year October and promoted it by playing up and down the country and at some major festivals. This band has a wonderful blend of layered vocals, guitar riffs, pounding percussion and heavy distortion.

Drawing inspiration from Nirvana, Pixies, Taking Back Sunday and Biffy Clyro, alt-rock band Schnarff Schnarff have set out to create a memorable and diverse sound. Marrying hooks and choruses with face-melting guitar riffs and metronomic drum fills, the band has been described as “staccato grunge pop” by BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway. Other than touring, the band also released The Evil That We Do… in September last year.

Scottish trio, The Violet Kind, are firmly rooted in melodic indie rock by taking inspiration from bands like Foals, Paramore and Death Cab for Cutie. The band has also made headway by getting noticed by David Wicker of Wicker Record, who believes Mansell's vocals are “sexy as hell” and that the song Walk Away should be “nominated for a Grammy.” And it’s easy to see why, as they combine delicate melodies with bright chords while experimenting in their rhythm section.
