Meet Glasgow's Real Life Entertainment

Posted: Friday 31 March 2017

Beating the competition in the Glasgow heats are punky psychedelic rockers, Real Life Entertainment. Scuzz TV presenter and journalist, Matt Stocks caught up with them to talk about how the band started, The Pogues and what we can expect to see from them at The Pogues Irish Whiskey Presents: A Shot at Discovery – The Final on Thursday 27 April.

What band made you want to start a band?

“It was The Pogues, funnily enough, but we were also dead into the Pixies. It’s a real mix of all different kinda things. I’m a big Smiths man as well, and we just kinda meld all these things into what we’re doing.”

How would you describe Real Life Entertainment to someone who’s never heard you before?

Angsty, psychedelic, punk rock music. But we also like to get our groove on and add a bit of funk in there when we can. We like big noise and powerful, punchy lyrics.”

What can we expect from your set at the final?

It’s gonna be explosive. Every time we play no matter where we play we’re always full of energy.”

How will you celebrate if you win?

Our plan was to try and go to Totti’s last game for Roma against Juventus – we were all going to try and get hospitality to that (laughs)

Well good luck. The final question has to be, what’s your favourite song by The Pogues?

Hell’s Ditch. That song is absolutely filthy.”
