Venue InformationBack to Top

O2 Ritz has been at the heart of the Manchester social scene for almost 90 years. Built in 1928, this Grade II listed venue was once one of the most popular ballrooms in the country, and now has become an essential destination for touring acts of all genres. Since the 1950s when it was converted into a live music venue, the building has attracted some of the all-time great performers, including The Beatles and Frank Sinatra, and in the 1980s and 1990s with the Manchester music scene booming, the venue hit the spotlight with legendary gigs from The Smiths, Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses.

In 2011 the venue was extensively refurbished with £2 million spent on state of the art soundproofing, new sound and lighting equipment and the capacity increased to 1,500. O2 Ritz Manchester is undoubtedly one of the best places to watch live music in the city and in recent years, audiences have flocked to see outstanding live shows from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Royal Blood, The Maccabees, Arctic Monkeys and George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. The venue has also proved itself as a versatile entertainment space, staging professional wrestling events and regular club nights including national brand, ‘Ultimate Power’.
