5 Acts You Have To See At Community Festival

Posted: Wednesday 26 June 2019

Love festivals but not so keen on camping or travelling out of London? Then Community Festival is for you. The one-day event hosts some of the best indie-rock bands around right now in the heart of Finsbury Park, so if you fancy going, here are five acts you have to see while you’re there.

This may seem like an obvious choice because they’re headlining the festival, but we don’t want you leaving before the end! Waltzing back into our lives last year with their amazing fifth album, Let’s Go Sunshine, they proved that they’re still the kings of feel-good indie and will be the perfect finale to a day spend in the sun listening to music. Plus, ‘Naive’ is still a massive tune, isn’t it?

O2 Academy Oxford: Friday 28 June - SOLD OUT

If you haven’t yet heard of Gerry Cinnamon, then get to know. The Scottish singer has shot to fame with hardly any industry backing and tickets for his headline shows have been flying out at an alarming rate (one of his O2 Academy Brixton shows is already sold out!). His DIY-folk attitude and wild live shows have earned him a hardcore following across the nation, as people get lost in his stories and social commentary. Grab your mates, grab a drink and prepare to bounce your way through Gerry’s set whilst singing at the top of your lungs, it’ll likely be the highlight of your day.

In less than two years, Sea Girls have gone from a small debut headline London show, to selling out bigger and bigger venues in the capital, testament to their hard work and the appeal of their sky-scraping indie-pop sound. Ahead of their biggest headline run of dates this autumn, the BBC Sound of 2019 nominees will be hitting Community Festival to give you a taste of their upcoming debut album and the euphoric anthems found within it.

Poised for greatness in 2019 following the release of their sublime second album, Future Dust, The Amazons are fast becoming one of Britain’s greatest rock bands. Pulling through elements of blues and old-school rock ‘n’ roll, they’ve created a slice of musical heaven which explores the issues that everybody feels going through their twenties. Warming up for a huge headline tour later this year, their set at Community Festival will give only a glimpse of what the band are really capable of, so if you like what you see, you know where you need to be this November.

The Night Café are the perfect festival band. Their glistening indie tunes are best sung along to amongst the sunshine with your best mates and Community Festival is the perfect excuse to do exactly that. The Liverpudlian quartet will be making their way to the big smoke to treat you all to tracks from their upcoming, highly-anticipated debut album, 0151 and we can guarantee that you’ll be smiling your way to the end. If you’re a fan of Blossoms, The Hunna and Circa Waves, then make sure you catch The Night Café this weekend.
